The Best Things in Life are Free
It has taken me sixty-one years to realize that the best things in life are free. Sunshine, the songs and grace of birds, the blue heavens, sunrise, the sea air, the field full of bluebonnets, the wonders of nature, the magenta sunset, love, joy, peace of mind, the warm rain, the dew of the roses, the decay of fall and the rebirth of spring, the love of God, are all here for our enjoyment. God has placed these things here for us. These free symbols are happening all around us and beg to be reflected in photography. Time is short here on earth, take a moment to look around and enjoy what you see and what lives, touch it gently, and hold respect for its life, and appreciate what a wonderful world we live in.
Don has worked the last 40 years in the field of medical digital imaging developing and using many of the techniques that digital photographers use today. Many of the technologies and products he developed are in use today in medical laboratories around the world. He has authored many papers on medical applications of digital imaging and was inducted into NASA and the United States Space Foundation Hall of Fame for his technical and product development in the field of digital imaging.
While discovering new applications of quantitative photography Don took up photo journalism as a method of relaxation and discovered a whole new world of documenting God's Handiwork, be it in an act of nature or man. Looking intently through a lens, waiting for the decisive moment to appear, gives one a focused look into the soul and personality of the subject. "I consider it a honor to share that time with the subject and document it so that others may enjoy the same feeling."
When not behind a camera, Don loves to be with his family and his wife of 40 years.
